Fun Monday

Crown Princess at Ooh, a shiny pen is this week's Fun Monday guru and she's looking for a little insight into our souls.

Uh oh.

Music plays a vital role in most of our lives. It is everywhere. I want to hear the ONE song that is you. The song that whenever it is heard, you smile. I am not looking for the soundtrack of your life, just that one song. Your friends hear it and think of you. You can post the video, the lyrics, the wav file. However you want to post it is great.

Alright, here's my song, and let tell you why. When I was younger I was afraid of almost everything. It's really only been the last few years that I've developed this weird "face your fears" attitude. This approach has changed my life in more ways than I can say.

And every time I hear this song - like the instructions say - it makes me smile.

(Of course, there was no YouTube for this, so this was the only way I could figure out how to do it. I'm really looking forward to seeing how other people post songs).

We listened to that song a lot as we went cross country. And, I like it's meaning a lot. My favorite song used to be Desperado by the Eagles until Seinfeld and his group screwed that up.Today it's Eva Cassidy and Some where over the rainbow.

That's a new one to me (although probably not to my dad - he likes that singer). Good choice!

I love this Fun Monday just for this reason. I've never heard of this song but it's fantastic!

Mary Chapin Carpenter is one of my very favourite singers. I have most of her albums and I saw her in concert at a really small intinmate venue a few years ago and she absolutely blew me away.

My favourite of hers is Why Walk When you Can Fly

Forgiveness doesnt come with a debt -- I LOVE IT! I was bouncing around before I even clicked play. That's an awesome tune.

Can't listen to it RC because of napping boys (oh, the bliss), but mine has got to be 'It must be love' by Madness. What an 80's fest that is. It makes my face break out into a big grin just thinking about it.

Very good song and good for you. I need this song from time to time.
My momma has improved a lot. I'll be off and on over the next week. We just got to take one day at a time. Thank you for being there for me!

Great song. I love MCC. I had forgotten how much, though, so now I'm off to dig out her old CDs.

Thanks.

I really like Mary Chapin Carpenter.

Now I want to know how Seinfeld screwed up "Desperado". I'm a Seinfeld fan, but I must have missed that.

altaglow - okay, enquiring minds want to know. What happened with Desperado on Seinfeld?

-ann - I think you'd like her.

joy t. - I'm hearing a lot of new stuff, too. It's fun.

angela - I need to YouTube that, because I can't get a clear idea of it.

laurie - keep looking.

lil mouse - it's hard to resist!

potty mummy - well, listen to it and let me know what you think. Nap time...ahhh.

kitten - so glad about your mom.

sandy - I can listen to her all day. And often do!

megnificent - welcome! I'm glad you liked it.

ellen b - I'm having a lot of fun taking chances. It's a whole new experience.

junebug - I'm finding a lot of oldies but goodies, too.

patience-please - welcome! Yeah, I have a feeling that this Fun Monday was sponsored by Amazon and iTunes!

chrisb - darn it. I wonder why it wouldn't play.

swampy - oh, there's a story. I couldn't figure out how to link to a song and there's no YouTube for this. (Figures). So when I went to the Blogger help page they had a list of music providers and this imeem was one of them. You have to sign up for a (free) account and then when you pick your song they give you the option to post it directly through Blogger. The problem is that it automatically goes to a widget in the sidebar. So I just copied the info from the widget and posted it in the body of the post.

Aren't you sorry you asked??

jenni - well, I've asked her. Lets hope she tells!

I'm now singing "I feel lucky" by Mary Chapin Carpenter. Great song choice by her!

Alison said...

I do love this song!! I was like you, afraid of everything, especially when my husband was gone overnight. Now he travels all the time for work..and I am not afraid anymore!!

Linda said...

You? Scared? Say it ain't so! Well, we do learn alot about the people that are brave enough to participate don't we? I love that feisty song!

Altaglow said...

Okay, there was a segment on Seinfeld re: another really strange guy Elaine was seeing. Everytime he would hear "Desperado" he would freeze and look longingly into the next galaxy. Of course the running joke through the whole episode was about freaky Desperado fans are. I could be wrong but I think Larry David also picked up the theme again in his Curb Your Enthusiasm show.

I think she's an inspirational woman. And, I'm a big fan of that song, too!

Molly said...

I know the singer but not this song with an interesting theological twist. I used to be afraid of about everything too. I may not be braver, but I have learned how to compartmentalize my fears.

Hootin Anni said...

I love the whole concept of this...great choice.

Kaytabug said...

Boo hoo. I only got to hear 30 seconds. I have heard of MCC but not this song.I'm off to see if I can listen to the entire thing or read the lyrics.

Ari_1965 said...

Good song. Thank you.

I've used Imeeme to add the Memphis Minnie/Selling My Porkchops song. Please come back if you'd like to hear it.

This song is also new to me, but it sounds very upbeat and fun!

i hadnt heard this one before, but i really like it.

and i also had a heck of a time posting a non-youtube thing. if only i had done what you did and checked blogger help, it might have saved me a LOT of aggravation!!!!

the rotten correspondent said...

flowerpot, robocop and akela - thanks!

happy in the abyss - well, we always knew great minds thought alike.

merry weather - oh, I love that song. I just flat love ELO.

nikki - that one was a runner up, believe me.

alison - me, too. Of course three huge dogs help!

linda - well, I'm a gemini. Scared half the time and feisty the rest.

altaglow - thanks for clearing that up, m'dear.

AFF - she really is inspirational, isn't she?

mjd - yeah, I compartment pretty well, too.

hootin' anni - it's a good life philosophy.

kaytabug - darn it. Try clicking on the name of the song on top and see if that helps. Otherwise just go to imeeme and listen to it.

ari_1965 - I'll come back and listen.

irish coffeehouse - welcome! And it is a fun song, isn't it?

janet - I have to say that checking Blogger didn't help me nearly as much as it could have. Or putting non-YouTube music on a blog is harder than I thought. One of the two. I hate to think how much time I spent this week trying to figure this out.

Ah, I'm not surprised that Mary Chapin Carpenter sings your song RC. She's a strong woman and you seem to share that quality as well, plus a little tongue in cheek thrown in for good measure!

I love that song. My mother-in-law is good friends with Mary Chapin Carpenters father and Step-mother. When ever she plays in Wolftrap in Virginia, they always get me 2 tickets. It is alwyas the BEST concert. So beautiful. She is one of my favorite singers. She did a few children's books, and my mother-in-law got them autograhed for Melanie,it has a cassette, When Hailey Came to Jackson in it.
