Our Fun Monday host this week is I.T. Guy and he's still in a movie mood from last week. Here's his challenge:
I need YOU (yes, the wonderful YOU!) to pick 5 memorable lines from 5 different movies (if you could tell us which character said it and to whom, would be a bonus)...and tell us to WHOM (the people in your life) you could have said those lines.
Just 5!
I could probably come up with a whole lot of these, but how about these five for starters?
Snap out of it! (Moonstruck) - to the out of control kid du jour
Calling someone fat doesn't make you any skinnier. Calling someone stupid doesn't make you any smarter. All you can do in life is try and solve the problem in front of you. (Mean Girls ) - to my kids
Tell you what. The truth is...sometimes I miss you so much I can hardly stand it. (Brokeback Mountain) - to my mom.
You complete me. (Jerry Maguire) - to my friends.
Sometimes you've just gotta say "What the F**k". (Risky Business) - to myself.
Now go and see what everyone else came up with. (And why does someone who hates Tom Cruise have two of his movies in here??)

I can easily cheat and google favorite movie lines, because I don't know any of my own, my mind's memory doesn't allow it, it is suffering from mumnesia (look that up in Wikipedia).
Also, although Eduard is the head operator at a film house, I actually see very few movies and I am not such a DVD buff.
Good subject, though!
Well, Tom Cruise was in some good movies, Jerry Maguire and Rainman to name two.
Calling someone fat doesn't make you any skinnier. Calling someone stupid doesn't make you any smarter. All you can do in life is try and solve the problem in front of you. is sage advice for any kid. However, it seems like many seventh graders have a hard time grasping the concept.
Finally, "Sometimes you've just gotta say "What the F**k."...how true.
Roy Hobbs (Robert Redford) says to someone in a suit (can't remember who) in The Natural: You're standing awfully close Bud, I can't tell if those are your toes you are standing on or mine. I love that line. Have wanted to use is with a former co-worker. You complete me, too.
Ah, I'd forgotten that line from Brokeback MT. Not much I didn't love about that movie.
Ditto for the last line! Love your #2 line as well...I'm really enjoying this alot!
Happy FM!
I'm going to have to mull this one over...I'm not sure I use any, to be honest. Hmm. Dang I'm boring!
you hate tom cruise? i KNEW we were sisters!!
I used to love Tom Cruise. And then I found out he's way shorter than me, and it ruined everything.
And now... I deliberately avoid movies he's in. Except the old ones that I love...
Most of my favourite movie lines of all time come from Top Gun. Of course.... That could be because I've seen it wayyyyy to many times
Oh good! I hate Tom Cruise too, but I never met anyone else who did!
I say that last one to myself every day!!
Brokeback was a great film but the book is even better - have you read it?
I totally agree with these! GREAT set!
The first one....I can even hear you say this...you sound just like Cher!!!
If you haven't stopped by my blog for the FUN MONDAY movie quotes I hope you can find time. I'd love to have you pay me a visit.
That Cher line is one of my favorites. Can you think of anything ever said in response to "I love you" that is more hilarious?
I'm a Tom Cruise hater, too.
Another good batch of sayings.
AACK! Moonstruck! Love that movie. And I have used "Loretta's" phrase before. Very cool fun Monday post. Jen
Waaaaaaaaaaay too many lines from Monty Python to be listed.
Sorry for the late comment. Had a very busy day plus had a scheduled game. :-) I liked the one from "Mean Girls". Thank you for joining. Happy FM!
Because, like me, you tolerated him before he went nuts!
Lisa
You can add me to the list of Tom haters, but I do like several movies he is in.
All great quotes and I say WTF a lot!
Do you slap when you say number one? Because I don't think I could say the line without slapping the recipient...
A great set of quotes there RC. :)
"I gave her my heart...and she gave me a pen"- John Cusak, Say Anything.
"I can't believe I gave my panties to a geek!"- Molly Ringwald, Sixteen Candles.
Jeff Kohlver: Those letters are mine. Hayley Stark: Nothing's yours when you invite a teenager into your home.- Hard Candy
Mary Ann: Oh that's nice. So now cheating on your husband makes you a feminist? Sarah Pierce: No, no, no. It's not the cheating. It's the hunger - the hunger for an alternative and the refusal to accept a life of unhappiness. - Little Children
Sorry I had to google a bit...to get the wording right.
Love the "Mean Girls" quote. Haven't ever seen it though. Enjoyed your choices!
Oh the first two are great ones! I love, LOVE, L-O-V-E them! And totally kid friendly too! lol
Ahh. Moonstruck has great quotes that are too numerous to count.
Ghost is another movie with great quotes like this one during Oda Mae's seance:
Damn baby! What d'ya do to your hair?
Orlando you like it? It's autumn sunrise! ...
Good ones - 4 is especially sweet. Why do I seem to be the only person who had trouble with this one?
Here are mine...
"Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here." from As Good As It Gets
Today I'm handing out lollipops and ass-whoopins and right now, I'm all out of lollipops." from Will and Grace (not a movie but still good)
1) "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." and
2) "I... am not left-handed." and
3) "Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something." from A Princess Bride
Great choices! I'm with you on Cruise, though. Can't stand him and a lot of his old movies are my favorites. I don't watch his new movies. I'm sure he feels pain in his pocketbook from my boycott...lol.
I love Meryl Streep's line in Out of Africa "I had a farm in Africa". I know it's short and not overly poetic, but it tells of a brave, pioneering woman who had adventures, romance and wonderful memories of her life. I hope I can say something like that when I'm old.
"Nobody's perfect" - last line, Some Like it Hot, after Jack Lemmon tells the old rich guy who adores him that he's not a girl he's a boy. Best line ever...
Good idea for a post - Happy FM!
Just saw Moonstruck and Risky Business, but love the one from Mean Girls, it's something I could use on a mean neighbor right about now.
Oh you just put me to shame!!! Great choices, great!
Patience
OOHh such good ones to live by!!!!
love them!!
WTF is such a good one!!
okay, so it won't work for fat and dumb. how about if i call someone artistically challenged? am i then more gifted? no? okay...if i call someone hyper? doesn't that make me calm? crap. i been doin this wrong all over the place.
and well, we can hate tom cruise, but we can't deny his quotability. (i deem that a word.)
belle and jo sing your praises. and i never question either of them. so i'm sayin' hi, and who sent me. although belle i think was just shy of ordering me. i do as she says.
oh gosh i see kim's here too! well jeeeez if that doesn't just make a triple recommendation, nothing does!
