I have to thank you all again for the fun Thursday Three ideas you gave me a couple of weeks ago. I'm all for anything that keeps me from having to think too hard at the moment, so let's run with one of them. Kindly contributed by Angela at the Lurchers, let's talk about
Favorite Pizza Toppings
I have this vague idea that I've done something a lot like this, but so what? I can talk about pizza all day.
#1. Veggies. Name the veggie and I'm all over it. Except for eggplant, which for some reason I can't stand. Peppers, mushrooms, onions, garlic, spinach, zucchini...yum. Especially the mushrooms. If they're wild it's even better.
#2. Feta cheese. The best pizza I ever had in my life was a thin crust feta and shrimp in San Francisco and I still think of it from time to time. I don't do the shrimp very often, but I do like feta. There's a place near us that does a killer feta and spinach pizza. I could eat the whole thing.
#3. Artichoke. Are you sensing a theme? I don't like pepperoni or sausage or ham. So that leaves me with limited options. But I love every one of them. Artichokes and mozzarella - double, even triple mozzarella. Throw on a bunch of red pepper (on any pizza I eat) and life is good.
Let's hear about your favorite pizza toppings. And I promise that by next week I'll be back to my usual smart ass self. Scout's honor.

I am a carnivore through and through.
I'll take a pepperoni, sausage and olive pizza any day.
I do love a thai chicken pizza too, but a good one of those is hard to come by. Although Cheesecake factory did a good job.
I'll have what ped's having.
The best pizza I ever ate was cooked on a BBQ. It was sooo yum
He put chicken, feta, peppers and some other veggies on it - and used teriyaki sauce instead of pizza sauce. Weird? Absolutely. But DELICIOUS!
I'll eat any veggie on my pizza except onions and olives. Hold the dead animals. I'm going to try out the feta cheese & spinach too. It's about time we had a "make your own" pizza for dinner again.
everything tastes better w cheese on it...i'm a big fan of feta. i want to taper of meat (i don't see myself becoming a vegetarian). it's just that after i haven't had it in so long, i do start to crave some meat.
Pesto, green olives, feta cheese, and red onions. If you're ever in the Dublin area, let me know so I can direct you to Bitz and Pizzas, the best pizza in Ireland. :)
How on earth can you still think of a pizza from time to time?
Thorough carnivore here too! Pepperoni, ham, steak you name it I'll eat it! Mushrooms are a must too but hold the peppers, anchovies and olives. Baked egg....that is just scrummy on a pizza too!
There's a regular choice over here on pizza menus that has goats cheese, honey and pine nuts - it's nice if you're expecting it to be sweet. I love a pizza with gorgonzola.MMMMMmmmmmm. Is it OK for me to have pizza for breakfast, do you think?
Mya x
Sea food topping is really yummy! Shrimp, tuna with lots of cheese. A nice veggie one is to put broccoli & other roasted veg & lot of cheese.
I've just had breakfast but I'm making myself hungry!
Who needs toppings? I am all for the crust. Now that is yummy! When I really want to be bad, I'll add a little dip in some ranch dressing and mmmmm.... :-)
When I still used to be able to eat meat, before my gastric band, I always like sausage and pepperoni pizza the best.
Although I am a vegetarian now, I do have to admit that I am a real carnivore at heart and meat has always been a favorite pizza topping for me.
I do like a lot of cheese on my pizza, especially mozzarella, very stringy and soft.
I like white pizzas. All that cheese and garlic. I like mine with spinach or artichokes. mmmm. I also prefer my pizza to be cooked in a wood fire oven. That leaves out my kitchen which I consider quite handy.
You're making me hungry, and it's only 9:30 a.m. The best pizza I ever had was in Cagliari in Sardinia. The crust was to die for.
I've just caught up on your blog. From the bottom of my heart I give you lots of hugs. I've been there too. You sound like a resiliant and brilliant woman. You'll be OK.
'I could eat it all by myself...'
Is there any other way to deal with a pizza, RC?
oh that's easy:
fresh tomatoes (not sun-dried)
broccoli
mozzarella
although basil instead of broccoli will also do the trick
(doug's big treat when i am out of town is to get pepperoni on his pizza.)
Extra cheese, spinach, banana peppers. Life is good.
Once I was contacted by some market research company, and I got to talk about pizza for half an hour straight. It was bliss.
Wel as you know I am veggie, so the veggie oe you have here sounds perfect, but I also love spinach and ricotta, or a feta and roasted veg one. Yum.
And that would be 'well' and 'one'.
Tsk.
I agree. Eggplant is revolting. It squeaks when you eat it. In England we call it aubergine, which at least gives it a more dignified name to be disgusting under.
I make pizza from scratch a lot. The kids love it. Their favorite is topped with BBQ sauce instead of red sauce, then layered with chicken, bacon, red onion and mozzarella. Yummy. My favorite is a traditional red sauce with fresh mushrooms, black olives, red peppers, red onion, fresh basil, mozzarella and parmesan (plus some asiago if I have it). I don't get it that often because I am the only one who eats it.
I don't think I've heard of an eggplant pizza...
take all the time you want girl...no-one is expecting miracles..
you take your time RC. I'm afraid I'm not a fan of pizza, though I like teh sound of your toppings.
I'm being bad and posting from work while on lunch. I love meat on a pizza, but I particularly love it when Ray makes homemade dough, and I can put ricotta, feta, mozarella, spinach and brine cured olives on it.
And Mya, my other favorite is caramelized onions, with gorgonzola and thinly sliced figs. It is heaven.
I love veggie too.
Mozzarella
red peppers
and
mushrooms
So good! I love a good crust too.
There are two pizzas that are at the top of my favorites. The first is one I had in Sicily last year and was very simple: thin crust, lots of cheese, portobello mushrooms and a hint of white truffle oil. Second: a clean-out-the-fridge pizza with every veggie we can find that has any life left in it on a thin crust with cheese such as feta, goat, white cheddar - whatever.
And pizza is one of the best breakfast foods I can think of.
You're gonna hate me but I'm not a big pizza fan. :(
I'm with you on the feta and spinach, but I'm also partial to a basic Hawaiian (that doesn't sound quite right?) Love the pineapple!
ham and green olives. if i must take a third, well split it between sausage and pepperoni.
there is a restaurant near me that has a japanese eggplant and feta pizza ... i start drooling just thinking of it.
okay you and i will never fight over pizza. i'm a meaty meaty pizza girl. i like my pizza with meat, with an extra topping of meat, and a meat sauce. for dessert, i'll have a meat. okay, that last one is a lie.
and although i love eggplant, i do believe it has no place on pizza. now - ratatoille. oh MMMBABY that's good eggplant-filled veggie party.
but artichoke? that has no place in my mouth.
they put sweetcorn on pizzas here. i think that is a crime against nature. it is at the very least a crime against *me*.
Oooohhhh just load it up! You did it now, I must order some pizza! I love pizza, I live for pizza!
When hubby asks why I am ordering pizza at 10:30 pm, I will just show him your blog!
I'm usually a basic ham and pineapple kind of girl, although I have had some pretty fantastic pizzas in my life. Especially in Italy (big surprise). My most memorable was a perfectly thin crusted pizza with a hint of sauce, fresh slices of mozarella and cooked spinach, enjoyed on the banks of the Grand Canal in Venice. Maybe it doesn't sound so great, but I'm sure there were a few special ingredients (crack? prozac?) because it tasted like heaven.
I like almost any kind of pizza!
Our local (eat in) pizza joint does two pizzas, a bottle of red wine or a jug of beer or Coke, plus a bowl of salad for two for fifteen of your English pounds! They will even do half and half toppings so if you're like me and get bored with a whole pizza the same topping all over, you can have two for one on your two for one, if you get my drift.
The only pizza I don't like is anything with prawns on it. Just wrong somehow. And although the hoi-sin duck pizza is weirdly delicious, that seems somehow strange too.
Other than that, keep the hot cheese coming!
One of my all time favorites? Spread pesto as the sauce, top with mozzerella and cubed, slightly cooked Yukon Gold potatoes, bake pizza as usual.
Divine.
