The subject today is Pie. Specifically
Favorite Pies
I’ve been wracking my brain all day for topic ideas and not having a lot of luck. I even dragged my mom into it on her last night here, bless her heart.
“What should I write about?”
“How about (this)?”
“No. Won’t work.”
“Okay. How about (this)?”
“No. That’s not good either.”
“Okay. How about you come up with your own stinkin’ idea?”
Where’s the maternal instinct when you need it?
Alright, back to pie.
As Surfer Dude loves to say (out of nowhere and with absolutely no context whatsoever), “I like pie.”
Especially…
#1. Pumpkin. Hands down, no contest, my favorite pie. These don’t last long in my family, believe me. Sweet potato works, too, but pumpkin is always numero uno. I like it best at room temperature with cold whipped cream, but if no one is looking I’ll eat it right out of the pan with my hands. Can’t do that with just any old pie.
#2. Coconut Cream. Any cream pie, to be perfectly honest, but coconut is my favorite. But banana is close. Very close. Wait a minute. I may need to rethink this.
#3. Strawberry. I’m not a huge fruit pie fan, strangely enough, but I love strawberry pie with a light glaze. Especially in the summer, with perfect, juicy strawberries. Frozen doesn’t really cut it.
Your turn.
(and does my font give any indication that my wireless is being weird again? sigh)

Did you watch that movie about the waitress who makes pie? Can't remember its name. But it had really funny names for pie.
My favorites are:
1. Marionberry, warm with ice cream.
2. Pumpkin, cold with whipping cream.
3. Chocolate cream, with caramel is even better.
Pie
Only two kinds worth anything.
Hot or cold.
and only one kind that isn't.
Jam pie.
Thats where the top crust is jam down to the bottom.
:)
I love my country, but there is one thing wrong with it. We just don't do pies, except of course meat pies (for which we are famous). But as for fruit or cream pies, apple is about it.
This is a real problem for me because the three best things in life are (in order):
1. Pumpkin Pie
2. Banana Cream Pie
3. Chocolate Cream Pie
All with either ice cream or whipped cream. Man, I'm so depressed.
Ped, the movie is Waitress.
My three are:
pecan
chocolate cream
sourcream lemon
also any berry pie
There was also a scene in the movie Michael where Andie McDowell sings her pie song after the waitress lists about 20 kinds. They just order 2 of everything.
Me....plain old apple, room temp, with a fairly large scoop of vanilla ice cream. Banana cream is also a contender, as is pumpkin and/or sweet potato (crust optional).
ooooo I love love love pie. most any kind will do.
warm berry with vanilla ice cream is my favorite. :)
I'm not big into pies. But if you twist my arm, I prefer:
1. Lemon Meringue
2. Key Lime
3. Pumpkin
But only if they’re made by my mother or we call the whole thing off.
When in France...Tarte Citron
When in England...Bakewell Tart (it has to be from Bakewell, Derbyshire - not Mr Kipling rubbish.)
When in the U.S.A....Pecan Pie.
When at my Mum's, her AMAZING apple pie.
Gosh I'm hungry now!
Mya x
LOL. I just wrote about pie! We've been kindred spirits all along, RC, even if I haven't been writing.
1. Apple pie, with the crumb topping. I love it.
2. Pumpkin pie
3. And my new favourite, grape pie. I've been running across recipes for this, and finally made one. It was heavenly.
I like cream pies, too. I just think of them as frothy desserts, though. Chocolate chess pie would be my number four, very southern.
my dad loved boston cream pie, and sometimes asked for it for his birthday. unusual for a man who almost never ate sweets or desserts.
i must confess that i pretty much only like pumpkin pie. but i could eat that every day.
I am an oddball as I don't like cake. I prefer pie or cookies. I do like pumpkin pie but these three are my favorites:
1. Apple with caramel topping (what calories?)
2. Cherry--straight up, nothing fancy
3. Banana Cream
I love strawberry pie and chocolate pie.
I've never been a pie lover, but I have learned to enjoy some.
1. Pecan pie, especially made by My Two Cents.
2.Key Lime pie.
3. Lemon Meringue. The best ones I have ever had were made from lemons from the back yard also by My Two Cents.
Do you see a pattern here? For someome who never baked a pie in my life, I raised a very good pie baker.
1. apple pie with a crumb topping swimming in custard
2. blackberry pie, warm, topped with homemade vanilla ice cream
3. Dixie pie, warm, with more of that lovely ice cream on top
Thanks, RC. We're trying to eat healthy and now I want to make pie!
In no particular order, pecan pie, cherry pie and this amazing blackberry cobbler by my granny, hot, with vanilla ice cream.
Mmmmm... I love pie too! :)
My fav is my Mom's strawberry pie. YUMMY!!!
I'm like you though, fruit pies aren't my fav, mostly because people cheat on the ingredients and end up making things that taste store-bought. Yuck. You know, like they use the "pre-made fillers" eeeeeeeeeew!
Oh, and I LOVE me some coconut cream pie!
I swear, you and I could eat together and have NO problems! Except that we'd have to share! Ha!
Oh, this is a great list. That movie Waitress is great to watch if you love pies...
1. Cherry w/ice cream
2. Pumpkin
3. Pecan
4. Apple
5. Blueberry
Was I only supposed to do 3? Who can narrow it down to that!
Let's see...I love pie...
1. granny smith apple pie
2. peach pie
3. French silk pie
Runner ups: Banana cream & cherry pie.
OK, I guess we're talking sweet pies here? In that case
Apple
Lemon
Key Lime Pie
If we're talking savoury pies then Steak and Onion for me please!
pecan. omigod. totally pecan.
I love pumpkin pie. But my favouite is probably pecan-date.
I use this pumpkin pie recipe but I use a regular crust and then put the gingersnap mixture on top of the pie. Deee-licious!
I also like Kentucky Bourbon Mud Pie or whatever it's called that's all pecans and chocolate.
1. Cherry
2. Cherry
3. Pumpkin
For my 11th birthday, I had cherry pie instead of cake. YUM
Apple Pie definitely!
Cherry pie. Or wimberry pie. Or perhaps rhubarb crumble. I can't decide.
You know, I WAS going to say; we're not that big on pie in the UK nowadays. But I just read through the list, and I want Carolyn's mum's lemon meringue, some Bakewell with Maya, and last but by no means least my mother's blackberry and apple crumble. Though I'm not sure that last one counts. Because is crumble really pie?
And a pie made from a vegetable? Like sweet potato? Surely that is just wrong...
Strawberry AND cream. Not that I'm greedy. Or apple. Mmmmm.
Well I pop by and you've posted three times. Just read your homecoming queen one. I agree with your therapist - a managed release of emotions in front of your kids is a good thing. They worry more when they sense stuff that isn't explained. Hope it all works out well for you soon.
Re pies - can't bear sweet stuff so mine has to be Scottish steak and sausage pie!
Apple, pecan and pumpkin on the edible front. Humble pie is also a good dish.
What about good old English apple pie & custard?
My 10 yr old breaks out with "I like pie." outta nowhere too!!
I like
1) Strawberry Rhubarb
2) Pumpkin
3)Custard
4)APPLE
2 through 4 are in a 3 way tie for 2nd.
I like every kind of pie. Very fortunately, I live in pie country. There are a few restaurants nearby that have more than 30 kinds of pie. I like that.
Limiting myself to pie I make:
1. Cherry, double crust, lots of sour cherries picked fresh from my mother's back yard
2. Apple, cold, the next day, preferably for breakfast
3. Peach, fresh, not baked, but like strawberry pie, except peach
hello rc,long time no see
i also live in a non-pie-baking-country,shame on us:-))
favourite ones:
1) apple pie with vanilla ice cream
2) bramble pie
3)lemon meringue pie
would be very thankful for any recipes you can send my way,the address is tair@gmx.de. thank you!!!
we ALWAYS talk about pie and cake, even if we dont ever have it. its just something that we do.
umm
pumpkin
apple
strawberry.
although i would also eat peach. or banana cream. there's no way i'm ever GETTING a fresh strawberry pie so that shouldnt even go on the list. sigh!
Only 2 kinds of pie in this world.
Steak & Kidney
Strawberry Rhubarb.
