shopping saturday

Who: You

What: Whatever you want.

When: Whenever

Where: You tell us.

Why: Because I can't think of anything to write about.

Here's the game. You have $500 (or the equivalent) and you have to spend it all in one store. Which store would it be? And why?

I'd go for Target myself. Not too exciting, I know, but what don't they have at Target? (We have a Super Target, so we even have one of the best grocery stores in town, too). It's one of those places where you go in to buy one specific thing and walk out a hundred bucks down.

Five hundred wouldn't even be a challenge.

Tonight I'd spend it at the closest place that stocks coats and sweaters. It was supposed to be 90 here today and instead it's raining and cold. No one has anything warm to wear and we're all freezing.

I'd go for Home Depot, I think. I'm focused on the yard at the moment. Honestly, $500 wouldn't go that far -- I want some new patio furniture.

Amen sister! My only credit card is a Target Visa; should tell you something!

One of two places:

A) Camera Shoppe: because I've got 3 lenses on my wish list and I'm not even sure 500 bones would get me all three.

B) Birkenstock Retailer: because a girl can never have too many birks. I should be able to pick up at least 3-4 pairs to add to my coveted collection.

Don't you just love it when completely random strangers leave you a comment ;)

This is such a hard question...So many places...Nordstrom, any place that sells a great vacuum, Ann Taylor, Vons, A Quilter's Dream, patio furniture sounds good, Historic Lighting, Feddes, the L.L. Bean store in Maine, or should I just take it to the nearest gas station? It wouldn't last long there, sadly.

The first three places that pop into my head.

IKEA - They have a cute computer desk/cubby with bench I am coveting.

Home Depot - For the ever present home remodeling we do.

Target - Because I love them and I already gave them $150 today.

Barnes and Noble for me. Or any book store. I could go crazy buying books. It is like an addiction.

Glad you did not get hit too hard and are OK.

XOXO

I'd go to Home Depot, although Target is a close second. $500 would give me a good start on getting that wood flooring I want to install...

Oh, sorry. I got a little too excited there. :-)

IKEA would keep me occupied for a while! You can never get out of those places. Could also spend that amount in M&S! On clothes!
Never heard of Target!

In the States, I'd take that $500 and go to the Giant Eagle grocery store, where I would buy I-Tunes gift certificates. That would be my music, TV, and movie needs met for at least a few months. Or I'd go to the Bass store at the outlet mall and get a year's supply of clothes.

Over here, I'm going to pretend it's 500 euro and not the equivalent of $500 (which would only be about 300 euro). Hmmm....Maybe a nursery to get supplies to plant a garden. Maybe Game or Gamestop to get games for the Wii. Or maybe get the XBox 360 that Peter covets. (Although, sadly, I don't think 500 euro would completed cover an XBox purchase.) Or there's always Marks and Spencers for clothes.

So many choices - good game!

B&H Photo, an electronics heaven in NYC, is just a train ride away for me. Or L.L. Bean in Maine which is more than a train ride away but worth the trip. If the trains aren't running then any bookstore with a coffee bar.

Oooooo - I'd like several of the suggestions below. Hmmm... I think it would be Target. I'd get a gift card and use it to buy the baby things I need for the next couple of months.

Who knew these buggers were so expensive? And why didn't they TELL me? :)

Barnes & Noble for books. Frame store to have some old photos framed like they do in museums.

The leftover cash (muwahahaha) would go to White Flower Farm for bulbs to plant this fall.

$500 wouldn't be nearly enough!

I'd spend half on shoes and handbags. And I would buy lots of art supplies at the local wholesale art place. But Target is tempting. I had to ban myself from target so I would stop spending so much money!

oh, it would totally be a tossup between target, costco and the apple store :-)

I'd spend it wherever they sell Nikon lenses. And $500 wouldn't even cover it. Hmpf.
