Take a moment this Super Tuesday to thank your lucky stars that the under eighteen crowd won't be picking our next US President. If they were, their preferred platform could look something like this:
In other news, the (other) RC winner (by a whopping one vote margin) is Rented Cranium, submitted by Ciara at Ramblings and Whatnot. I would ask her to send me her address, but I already have it from when I never sent her the Play It Forward gift she won. Ha. Here's where I combine shipping!
Way to go, Ciara. A box full of Liberal Collegeville goodness will be arriving on your doorstep soon. (And this time I mean it!)
And here's the sickbed tally at chez RC. One kid stayed home sick, one kid got sick at school and had to come home early and one kid came home at the end of the school day sick.
Is it flu season or what?
On the subject of sickbeds, I had an interesting patient at work last week. In with (surprise!) the flu and dehydration was a 60ish year old mentally challenged man, accompanied by his caretaker. He gave me hell for everything I did in a crabby, little kid kind of way. Toward the end of his bag of IV fluids he sent his caretaker out for a fast food dinner for the two of them. As soon as she left he motioned me over to his bed.
"You have to be quick," he said. "She'll be back soon."
"Quick with what?" I asked, thinking he meant the fluids. "You still have a quarter of a bag left."
"That's not what I mean," he said peevishly. "You know you want me. Now's your chance. Just pull the curtains and hurry!"
I need a vacation.

Oh grief-- On the kids illness and the life-sapping sickness of 60ish men.
You need someplace warm, sunny and quiet. What a day!
Hope the boys are all better soon. Isn't it nice to know you've still got it. ;)
omgoodness @ you wanting him lol yep, i think a nice long vacation is in order.
i'm sorry to hear that everyone's getting sick over there...here, too, as stinky has been sicker than hell for the past couple days. i think he just passed it on to his son. i need to knock on wood as the girls and i have gotten sick, but not like those two. see, the rarely get sick, and when they do, it hits them HARD.
and woohoo to the liberal collegeville goodness. now i really would've like to have seen what you could do with republican conservative lol tomorrow is super tuesday and i'm going to vote liberal democrat lol :)
Eeeww! What a lecherous old fart! Flu season is running rampant here too. Today one of my kinders 'lost his cookies' during lunch. This is the SAME boy that I sent home LAST week for throwing up TWO different days. And yes, he had a fever too!
Ha, so dirty old men still exist and have those kinds of thoughts about nurses. That's pretty incredible and he thought he could get away with it because he was just a poor old bugger.
Hope your kids get better soon and that you don't catch that bug yourself.
pull the curtain.. bwaa ha ha ha ha ha
So...did you get finished before she came back?
Mya x
You mean you didn't take him up on his offer? And I thought you were so dedicated to patient care!
What an offer, RC!! What did you say?!!
For some reason the name 'Jack Nicholson' springs to mind...
the ego of men astounds me.
Some how I'm guessing FG isn't worried.
"Just pull the curtains and hurry"...lol. That's gonna be my phrase for the day!
Sorry everyone at your house is sick. Warm Jello, maybe?
It's good you have the job you do. It really gives you a lot of material.
I've got a kid home today, too. Ugh.
That gave me my first belly-laugh of the day.
Not the kids, but the kind offer - I'd love to imagine what signals he was receiving - maybe he misread your frustration - MEN - eternal optimists!
LOL, if you didn't bust out laughing, I applaud you. I'm not sure I could have left that room with straight face.
Sorry about the sick kids, it does seem to be going around. We've actually been sniffle/cold/flu free this week, which is a big change from the last, oh, three months or so.
Hilarious! So, um, what did you tell him?
Yeah, I guess it's true that the ego really is the last thing to go. I did manage to keep a straight face, but I got out of that room fast. And was I ever happy to see his caretaker come back.
And this will surprise all of you. I was so taken aback at his lovely offer that I was absolutely speechless. Not a quick comeback on my lips.
That's why I think I need a vacation!
That man made you speechless? You totally need a vacation!
Hope the kids are feeling better soon.
I've been wondering about something. I tell my kids all the time that I'm not their housekeeper and I'm not their nurse.
Can you tell your kids you're not their nurse when you are, in fact, a nurse?
Congratulation to Ciara. :)
Sorry to hear about the sickies. :(
Oh good Lord, you have a lot to put up with RC - I suppose it wouldn't have been so bad had it been George Clooney! :(
Oh Lord! I laughed long and hard at that one!!
There's an award waiting for you at my place. :)
Oh my gosh! Ugh!
Yeah, it's flu season for sure. I can't wait till Summer this year.
RC - sorry about the ill kids. Nothing is worse than a sick child...unless it is your husband. Hope everyone feels better!
Marti
oh my.........men will be men...even if they are practically dying. sigh....
I do hope everyone starts feeling better soon.
Yes, you do need a vacation! I can have the guest quarters in thirty minutes. Call me when you land and I'll send a car.
Hee hee hee, ha ha ha. I'm sorry, I had to laugh. Not at the poorly kids, that is bad. You knew that right?
