what stinkin' climate change?

When I left my house this morning, it was pouring down rain.

Every time I had a break in my class and I walked to the front door for some air, it was pouring down rain.

When we left the city and started driving home, it was pouring down rain.

We were half-way home when the tornado sirens went off. One tornado - on the ground - to the south of us. One tornado - about to touch down - heading in our general vicinity. Yet another tearing up the ground in still another direction. On the radio, warnings to abandon your vehicles and find a ditch to lay down in. Now.

The FX was at my house with the kids and everyone was calm. The Silence of the Lambs basement went untouched. I got home safely, pizza was ordered and devoured, and we went on with our night. It's still pouring down rain.

It could be worse. We could be in Texas.

(which reminds me, texans...we're all thinking of you. be safe.)

Jeeze. I hope you changed your underwear! My sister in Houston chose not to leave. Now we're all worried, especially her.

How frightening! Years ago my hubby, his mom and I were in the amish country of Ohio when a tornado touched down near us. We were sight seeing and huddled in the basement of an antique store... talk about creepy.

I'll take an earthquake anyday!

Rudee - I read your blog post about your sister. Very, very scary. All fingers crossed for her!

Devon - I'm so sorry about your dog.But don't let my story scare you. I think that most of them are totally benign. Keep us posted, okay?

I love that you call it the Silence of the Lambs basement. very evocative.

Living in someplace where it rarely tops 70, you'd almost wish climate change would mean it'd get warmer and more sunny. Sadly, it means more extreme and unstable weather. More storms. More rain.

Glad you got home safely.

Well we moan in England about our weather, but you get some really frightening things going on over the big pond! You seem very calm about it!
Yikes!

Good grief! I have always wanted to chase a tornado, but I suspect the reality is not that funny. Or clever.

Glad you're home safe and in one piece.

Wow.

Just ... wow.
Thinking of you all.
Can't imagine it.

I will never complain about rain again....

Well, not today.

We've had floods. So much rain that cars are floating down the streets. On the west side of town - we're on the east side, so not affected too much. Phew.

Your life is full of one crisis after the other.

Did you get into the ditch - you didn't say.
