hell, no, this isn't me...

I've been researching places I might have to move come November 5th if things don't go my way on Election Day. For someone who loves the idea of living in a different country - as evidenced by the blogs I adore that are written by people living in a country that is not their native land - this is kind of a pleasant activity. I can't think too much about what would have to happen to cause it, because that gets me all worked up. But the idea of living someplace different has always been very appealing to me.

I've looked into a few places, some more in depth than others. (Did you know that Australia offers priority immigration to nurses? If only the terminology wasn't so different. "You wanted an enema? Not an breathing tube? Sorry, mate.") I got totally lost on the Ireland info page, but am determined to figure it out. Somehow. It's like every beach in the world is your potential oyster. The sky is the limit.

What fun to look at a map of the world and say, "You know, I'd really love to live there." What an amazing adventure that would be.

Where would you want to go?

I'd choose Australia, it has so much to offer.

We did it 10 years ago, moved from England to Australia. Haven't regretted a minute of it! Go get your Priority Visa, it's great here. Your boys would love it too.

Come to Canada!

Seriously.

No?

Hrmph.

I'd love to go to Australia. Or Ireland. Or Russia (even though I don't speak Russian). And I have an enormous soft spot for Boston.

You know RC, you can go anywhere in the world and work as a nurse for the US State Department.

I have a thing for Australia too, although I have never been there. Everyone who has, never wants to leave. What I see on tv and read about it, makes me want to go there. It is top on my list for my next big vacation.

As a nurse, you would be welcome just about anywhere!

England is not a good place right now!

I don't want to be anywhere but here, where i am now, but if I were you, I would seriously consider Australia. You go look into that, RC. They want people like you.

Well France of course!

I had friends who went to France for a temporary job in 1968, saying that if Nixon were elected they wouldn't be back until he was out of office. And they are still in France forty years later!

How about France? Italy? Greece? Spain? Scotland? Mexico? Costa Rica? South Africa?

Lots of people are saying Australia. I've visited there. I don't think I'd want to live there. But a year or two might be OK.

Thing is, I don't think I want to stay anywhere permanently.

But I somehow think I'll never move.

I have been thinking a lot about this recently. Funny thing is, before we moved here to the US, I was a real home bird, and the thought of living abroad was totally unappealing. But now, having done it, I'd be quite keen to give it another go.

I quite fancy New England.

New York City.

I'm lucky enough to already live in the country where I always wanted to live, ever since I was a little girl. So I wouldn't want to move anywhere. But I would like to spend a good long while, like maybe 6 months, in Japan.

I've always longed to live in England or France.

I don't think we'll have to move anywhere, though. I don't think so, but like Laurie, I'm afraid to actually type it or say it out loud.

Back in the day, I swore I'd move to England if the current occupant of the White House was re-elected, but I didn't. I kinda wish I had.

Sometimes I think Canada, sometimes Ireland, and sometimes I'm thinking Greece. I really want to experience living in a cold climate even though everyone says I'd hate it. But I don't want to give up my house by the bay so maybe I'll just stay here.

I just wanted to say I enjoy your blog. I decided to check out some of Google Reader's suggestions and was shocked that I was actually interested in one of them.

I'm thinking Australia, or Canada. Both beautiful, and really cool people.

I enjoy travelling and there are lots of places I'd like to visit, but I couldn't imagine ever leaving England for good.

Newfoundland, of course.
Endless beaches, breathtaking vistas, very affordable housing. Good land for growing your own veggies. Great Nursing Associations. Clean air. Loads of fish. A sense of community that exists nowhere else in the world.
Talk to an Australian who lives here before moving to Oz.

Now, I've done this twice already. Moved from England to Norway for 7yrs and then 4yrs ago I moved to America. If I had to do it again, the only place I would consider is Canada, unless ofcourse, the dollar tanks further and I'm forced to move to Mexico to make my retirement funds go further!!

I think New Zealand.

You know, Bill Maher has a segment every week about where to move if the election doesn't go well...he just couldn't convince me on the benefits of India.

I wanna go to Canada. Or Holland - Amsterdam, anyone?
