aargh

I'm too cranky to be allowed to live. So don't expect much here tonight.

Since I've woken up today I've:

Had a mouse trapped under my fridge. A loud, squealing mouse. When I climbed up on a kitchen chair to peer behind the fridge, the chair suddenly gave way and the whole inside part of the seat fell out, sending me falling through the middle and taking all the skin off the outside of both calves. I grabbed a ceramic bowl of potatoes in a feeble attempt to break my fall, which proves you don't have to be a rocket scientist to write a blog.

Had a mouse casually walk across the kitchen right in front of me and climb in the dog food bowl for a snack. It might have needed glasses, because it failed to notice the broom in my hand. I whacked it hard and presto! it disappeared. Then I noticed it crawling up my brand new thermal drapes in a futile attempt to get away from my buddy the broom, and I wound up in my best hit the ball out of the park stance. Home run! And a nasty red spot on my new drapes, that thank god none of the kids have noticed yet. I know it's there - that's bad enough. Now I have mouse blood on my conscience.

Gone to push a turkey carcass into the stock pot to make soup, and had the wooden spoon slip off of the turkey and plunge my hand into boiling water. Oh, yeah. That felt good. Karmic payback?

Broken up endless computer arguments, had to rip out a scarf I've been knitting (and that I really liked) because I realized I'd screwed it up a while ago and by the time I caught it it was too late to salvage, gotten excited because the tub finally drained, but then put the younger boys in for showers and realized that I got excited too soon, had the power go out for several hours due to some stupid circuit malfunction, blah blah blah. When I finally plopped down to do some computer stuff the wireless is out. Jeez louise. I'm a frickin' mess.

I'm going to bed. I don't care that it isn't even nine o'clock. At least if I'm asleep I'll stay out of trouble.

Holy crap... sweet dreams! At least now you know that all the rodents aren't in your son's room!

Man, your life really sucks! Hey, I have some great mouse traps if you're interested (they never fail and are really easy to empty)...call me.

You don't sound too lucky today. I think you should wrap yourself in bubble wrap.

Have you tried Draino in the tub? I think it might help. I have no advice for mice, other than a cat. Don't the dogs chase them?

RC....... don't touch anything......
Wait for a new day!

Hope today is better. Rodents in the kitchen... my pet hate.
There's always something to be grateful for........ that its not the larger variety!

Yikes! What a dreadful day. On the bright side, tomorrow has to be better, doesn't it?

Oh hey, speaking of mice-predators, aren't the bunny-munching dogs helping out at all???

You are, without doubt, the bravest woman I know. I am in awe of you. If I had seen two mice in the kitchen I wouldn't be writing a blog. I would be dead.
(Better luck tomorrow).

What a life of excitement you live! I agree with you, best to stay asleep as long as possible. Hope the dreams are peaceful, at least!

Yowser! Very bad day indeed, but your plan of going to bed sounded like a good one. Hope it gets better!

Devon - yeah, but is that a GOOD thing?

WT - you're on my speed dial, baby.

Rudee - do they make industrial grade bubble wrap? I thought of you with this stupid scarf. I bet you could have saved it.

my two cents - I'm on my way to buy a special drano that Stu recommended. (This was right before I ripped his head off on the phone last night. Sigh).

And my dogs? They lay there and watch the mice. Except for Dee Dee - but she's too fat to do anything about it.

Maggie May - yeah. Thank god it's not rats. That's the only saving grace.

-Ann - well, that's what I keep telling myself anyway. The sun'll come out tomorrow...

or maybe even today.

My dogs are useless. Useless, I tell you. You'd think they'd get a little pissy about their food bowl, wouldn't you?

jackie - you have no idea how much I hate mice. No idea. With a passion.

Frances - I slept beautifully, thank you. I feel (almost) ready to face the day.

Rose - you were also one of the knitters I channeled yesterday when I realized I had killed my scarf. I've gotta get better at fixing mistakes.

It sounds like you need to take a few days off to deal with some issues at home. Can you take some payed leave? Get rid of the rodents anyway. They are looking for a warm spot with food in the winter. Your house is it.

Hello--popped over from Rudee's blog. Could not resist the Cherry Ames' picture--one of my fav's and what a gal pal. And, Dr. Dan.
Must be the season for mice. We have a baby one running around past and through the two intellectually challenged cats and our deaf dog. Now my HoneyHaired child is comparing it to the new Tales of SomeLittleCuteTalkingMouse and wants to save it. It's truly a Monday...

if draino doesn't work, try bleach. just regular bleach. pour it right down the drain.

does the trick for us. our tub clogs up fairly often because i have so damn much hair.
