out of curiosity

Hypothetically speaking...

How long should you give yourself to come up with a post idea once you've actually sat down at the computer? How many times might you get distracted by word games on Facebook, or a Scrabble game where you're getting your shorts handed to you, before you give up on the post and call it a night? How many times is too many to check your Yahoo account, or the local newspaper headlines - which oddly enough haven't changed a bit since you checked them three minutes ago? Head over to the Trader Joe's website to find that in the 24 hours since you've last looked, they're still not planning a store in your area, casually make sure you aren't a Missed Connection on Craigslist, check your pending auctions on eBay, look into your stats on Site Meter, read a bunch of posts by people who can actually write on Bloglines, make sure there haven't been any earthquakes in California or that there aren't any snowstorms heading your way...and then, still with no idea at all of what to write, repeating the whole cycle?

Hypothetically speaking......... my ideas seem to burn a hole in my brain & won't give me any peace until I have written them down.
My draft box is full of such unpublished posts!
However I could not cope with daily posts like you do!

Relax...... have a good holiday, RC. Happy Christmas to you all.

Lately I've made myself post, but mostly...it's drivel.

Or whining.

I gotta get out of this mode!

My life is such a circus I'm overflowing with blog fodder.

Sad, that! ;)

Five minutes max. Then go and eat some chocolate and give yourself a break. Catch a bit of Hugh on DVD. Incidentally, I saw him being interviewed on TV last night and he was explaining how he has to be careful which cars he buys, as he is prone to ball pain. You're a nurse, goddamit. Perhaps it would be a good opening gambit?

Merry Christmas!

My ideas usually come to my at the most inoportune moments - like when I'm at work! Luckily I don't have anyone looking over my shoulder so I can usually make a few notes and elaborate on them later!

I think of brilliant blog posts earlier in the day. When I sit down to post, all I can remember is that I had the brilliant idea, not what it was.

Merry Christmas Eve!

You can stop worrying about an earthquake in CA...we are having a (relatively) cold and wet December - pure joy. If gets unseasonably hot and dry I'll let you know. Then you can worry about earthquakes, ok?

I just sit down and start writing abut my day. I am the topic of my blog. It's an ego document. I tell them what I did and how I felt and how the dog is doing and about my ex and I just sort of rattle on until I'm done. It seems to work.
