let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

The Film Geek and I are having a disagreement. I think the snowstorm we've been having all day is the heaviest snow we've had since we've lived here. He thinks we've had heavier. When I ask him to tell me when, he isn't able to pinpoint it. If I had to take a guess, I'd say I'm right. But it's just a guess. (And my guess, to boot).

We've had a lovely indoor day. As the wind picked up and the temperature dropped, the snow really got heavy. I did have to run across town unexpectedly right around dusk, which I'm sure infuriated anyone behind me who wanted to go more than 7 mph. Tough. I think I've gone on record more than once on never wanting to be a patient in my own ER. Ticking off fellow motorists is a small price to pay. And I'm never more of a Southern Californian than when I'm driving in snow. If I were a native Midwesterner I'd hate me.

I've tried several times today to take pictures, but the snow is so heavy I'm afraid of messing up the FG's super deluxe digital camera. So you'll have to take my word for it. I'll find some representative picture, but it won't actually be us. (Okay, I found one. But the picture above doesn't even begin to portray the snow on the ground. I like it, though).

Well, that was your weather update at the top of the hour. I'm off to throw another log on the fire.

Oh...and three guesses what I did again today...

i LOVE that girl singing this song...i read somewhere that they made her tone her voice down a bit because they said ppl wouldn't believe that it was actually a 10 yr old girl singing....kinda like christina aguilera when she was younger.

now for the snow...i still say better than me lol

The third rule of weather arguments states that unless the previous instance can be cited, the present instance becomes the yardstick. So in this case, you are correct.

I'm giggling over willowtree's comment. Yeah!

I'm laughing at Willowtree, too.

The most snow I ever remember getting when we lived in Topeka was about 18 inches or so. The thing about the snow up there is that it stays on so much longer than what we're used to in Oklahoma.

Also, people in Kansas just know how to deal with snow. Big, cool snow plows and big dump trucks full of salt and sand. The streets are always fairly passable. We don't. We're idiots. We have less than an inch of snow on the ground and I slid the entire three miles taking my daughter to work tonight. Hmmph.

How perfect for Christmas!! It is so nice to have a white Christmas. Last week we had all that snow, this week we have a flood warning, raining taking away all the snow. I am hoping it is not a muddy Christmas. My niece and nephew, from down south, will be here tomorrow and they can't wait to see all the N.Y. snow.

Stay warm, safe and enjoy the fire, with some of your famous hot chocolate. Life does not get much better!!

XOXO

Better white than wet. We are looking at another wet Christmas. Stay in, enjoy your fire, bake and eat cookies. Relax!

Of course I am envious. Here it is cool and clear, can't complain about that. Enjoy your day in and your fireplace.

Hee hee. Willowtree is so funny.

And I love those clips, and I envy your snow, although I probably wouldn't like that much.

Bill Nighy is so funny.

Dumdad said...

That is really quite snowy.

I love Bill Nighy in anything but in Love Actually he's sublime.

OK RC, you did it. I am going online now to order a copy of that movie.

Your work here is done.

Happy Christmas!

that video clip is hilarious. he has all the moves, doesn't he? as well as the pout....

I absolutely hate snow! I very rarely venture outside when it starts. And you can guarantee the school will close which means Amy comes home and wants to build snowmen and play in it.

Now Bill Nighy - he has the right attitude about Xmas...! LOL

Are you in Kansas?

I have all kinds of reletives in Kansas. I do not know how many "vacations" and long car rides and weeks were spent in Kansas.

we are getting hammered with snow, too! much more than they thought we'd get. i'm just in from shoveling but i'm not sure why i bothered; it's coming down hard and it's blowing.

doug is moving his mom from the hospital (finally! she's been there since nov 29) to a nursing home for rehab. i hope he has no trouble on the roads.

are you spending the day with a shovel in your hand, RC?

hey everyone -
thanks for indulging me in Love,Actually part 2. We're having a much better day here weatherwise. Lots of snow on the ground and cold, but the sun is out and there's almost no ice.

ciara - I love her voice, too. Goosebumpy.

willowtree - thanks. I'll tell him you said so. And Merry Christmas to you, too. And the four legged ones, too. Of course.

kimberly - that's why he does it!

kaycie - he should appreciate that we're laughing with him. It's the holiday spirit, right?

eileen - well, it's still white, but getting slushier by the minute. Ugh.

ped crossing - cookies go with rain, too. Honest.

my two cents - it was drop dead gorgeous when it was falling. Today...not so much.

jo - Bill Nighy is terrific. Did you ever see Notes on a Scandal?

dumdad - I agree completely. He makes the movie.

potty mummy - I swear, they should pay me royalties! You will not regret it - I promise.

laurie - he makes such a good flake, doesn't he? And (in answer to your last comment)it was a pleasure to sit in the house and watch my kids shovel. A couple of the younger one's friends showed up volunteering to shovel for $$$ so mine got up to get a piece of the action.

Now you've got me worried about Doug. This isn't a good day to be driving around.

crystal - but don't you guys get boatloads of snow? That would be awful, as much as you hate it.

aims - he kills me. He's such a ham!

a bishop's wife - I am in Kansas, as a matter of fact. Digging out from a whole slew of snow!

akelamalu - Merry Christmas to you, too!

Yay for the snow. I keep saying to my mum and sister "well this is something for you to tell the folks back home isn't it?" and annoying them. But it's quite dramatic if you're used to the feeble inch or two that we (sometimes) get in England.

Jen said...

I agree with Willowtree, without previous instances cited, you win.

It was 74 degrees here today. But we're supposed to get a bit of a "cold snap", and the temps are going to plunge into the low 60's.

Enjoy your White Christmas!

And Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, FG, Sasquatch, Gumby and Surfer Dude!

Ahhhhh. Music from my favorite Christmas movie. Except for my umpteen other favorites. We got your blizzard, only in the middle of the night so it wasn't very romantic with me running from window to window every time a wind gust over 30 mph rattled the windows. And because the wind was so evil, nothing was all sugar frosted in the morning, except the ground and my porch furniture.

Have wonderful and safe holidays and stuff yourselves to the gills.

P.S. Need to know more about this "tamale high" you speak of. . .
