Fun Monday

This week Fun Monday is being hosted by SayreSmiles. And this is what she has to say:

Every day as I go to work, I see things around me that make me laugh. Usually these are in the forms of signs. So take your camera with you as you go about your business and take a picture of the things that make you laugh along the way (but it doesn't necessarily HAVE to be a sign).

Okay. Here's my problem. I sort of accidentally signed up for this, because my camera is out of commission and I don't have any way to take pictures of funny things I see on a daily basis. This is not to say that I don't see some pretty funny things, just that I can't prove that I see them.

But...every time we go to my folk's lake house we drive out of our way to avoid one particular sign. It all started when they were looking at houses and the realtor who was driving us all around tsk-tsked when we passed it. Of course this made my boys curious about what the sign really meant. I'm about as open and up-front as you can be, but I'm not really feeling up to dealing with this one:

Seriously, can you blame me?

ah, that reminds me of my favorite place to stop on Interstate 35 on my way to Duluth: Banning Junction.

also known as B.J.'s Wine and Dine.

Well for sure you won't ever have the question: "I wish I could remember the name of that little place where we stayed on the lake a couple of years ago. . ."

Ha! There's a lot of contradiction in that there sign...
Happy Monday.

that is too funny!!!

OH MY Word! Don't blame ya one bit!

Holy Crap. That is too funny. If you hadn't already told me you don't have Photoshop I would have thought you made it up. I seriously can't believe that's the name of someone's business. Hilarious. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my word....THAT definitely leaves an impression! And PERFECT for Sayre's theme!!

I don't see anything special at this sign. Dick is just the abreviation from Richard I think.

(of course if I look in my dictionary I see there is also another meaning, lol !)

Driving past that sign? With three boys in the car? I'd take a BIG detour to avoid the interrogation too! Very funny though.

I can't decide if I think your sign or Laurie's comment is funnier. Either way, I win. ;)

Good one. At a certain point, your boys will already know what it means. At that point, will you be willing to drive past it again?

Have you ever wanted to meet Big Dick? The man who came up with that one is either seriously twisted or seriously funny.

When we moved into our house, someone left us info and a refrigerator magnet for "Big Wally's Snowplowing." It's run by Terry and Jim somebody. No mention of Big Wally. Not as funny as Big Dick or even Big Willy, but we've kept it for amusement.

Big Dick's takes the prize!

I think that fits the bill! :)

snickers quietly :-)

That's hilarious!! Right up my alley of middle school humor!

Bren said...

Hahaha! I wouldn't want to deal with that one either but I'd be laughing everytime I saw it.

Jenni said...

LOL! I think I would go by there on purpose to see the sign. My kids are older, though.

Sayre said...

Um... what's a minnow shot - or do I want to know?

That's so funny!!!! Of course, I wouldn't want to EXPLAIN it!

LOL! I think you win.

First out loud laugh of the day! Thank you.

Well, I think I am going to have to visit that sign and see it for myself. Please let me know where it is. Seriously.

Okay, I'm going to try to do a link, but I've never been successful before linking in comments

Dang it. I knew it wouldn't work.

Okay. Big Dick's is in Gravois Mills, Missouri at Lake of the Ozarks. If you google Big Dick's Halfway Inn there's a website proving that I'm not making this up!

I'm sort of sorry I even checked it out, since I found out the company slogan -

Let Big Dick's satisfy you!

I've never figured out why anyone named Richard would ever choose to go by the nickname Dick. And then to go and add "Big" in front of it?

Hysterical post!

That is hysterical!

RC, you do links in comments the same way you do links in copy.

you need to use HTML.

< a href = " (but suck out all those spaces, except the one between the a and the href)

and then put in the URL, and then close the quotes and the bracket like so ">THEN PUT YOUR CLICKABLE LINK HERE then finish it off with /a inside of brackets.

easy peasey. do it.

We have signs for a Dirty Dick's Crab Shack. I crack up every time.

Swearing Mother said...

I haven't got a picture of this, unfortunately, but it still makes me laugh.

Handwritten sign on boarded up shopfront:

"Closed down due to bad management and lack of pussy."

And no, it wasn't a pet shop, before you ask.

Kaytabug said...

LMAO! No I can't blame you! I would have taken a pic of this sign. This is my kind of humor!!
