my I don't have to run day

I love Sundays. I love them even more when I'm not working. And more still when they're smack in the middle of a three (or in my case four) day weekend. I like to lounge around with the newspaper and my very own pot of coffee, after I've slept as late as my little heart desires. I love sleeping in even more than I love Sundays. I love sleeping in more than just about anything, including peanut butter. (And by the way, why did my already insatiable craving for PB get even worse the second I heard they were recalling it? This recall better be quick).

The pace of the day always seems a little slower, at least at first. Toward the afternoon it's easy to shift into workweek prep mode, but since that isn't the case tomorrow it just sweetens the pot. A whole day free. The only thing I absolutely plan on doing is a couple loads of laundry. Other than that...the day is ours.

What's one thing you plan on doing today? Big, small or otherwise.

I love, love, love to sleep in. Unfortunately, it rarely happens.

As for what to do, we'll see what moves me in the morning. :)

I love that song, and I love to sleep in, as well.

And I'm...tired.

Well...... you will groan at this..... but we go to church!
Every Sunday but we can lie in and after a good sing and meeting with friends, we then have an UNtraditional English meal and do whatever we want to do. In my case, that is usually catching up with blogging or going for a walk with my trusty camera! Who knows what blogging material is just waiting for me!

I'm not a very good sleeper-inner. I don't like doing it, I wake up groggy, and I usually only do it when I'm depressed or avoiding something.

Today, I need to do some paperwork for my health insurance and I also need to write at least a scene for my book.

My biggest obstacle, the thing I will have to resist, is 'Friday Night Lights'. I bought the first season and am totally hooked.

Trying to make my house look like somebody actually cares about it. Although with all the rain we're having at the moment, three dogs running in and out and tramping muddy paws everywhere is making it a bit of a thankless task.

ped crossing - when my kids were smaller, sleeping in was the carrot on a stick that kept me going through the week. The FX - bless his heart - is a morning person.

Janie - why are you so tired, girlfriend? Have some chocolate...can't hurt.

Maggie May - why would I groan at church? I often wish I had traditions like that, but just don't. It always sounds so comforting.

-Ann - I do the whole sleeping when depressed thing, too. Like 20 hours a day. This - thank god - is not that. It's sheer laziness. Aaah...

lv4921391 - oh, you poor guy. Do you have an abscess?

Flutterby - mmmmm. Couscous. What time should we be there?

Angela - I think we have matching kitchen floors. It snowed Friday and then melted yesterday. You could mud wrestle on my (white) kitchen floor.

Potty Mummy - well, maybe not there. But they are here. Wait. Let me be totally precise. They're recalling all products MADE with PB and advising that we don't eat PB itself. But I don't know that it's beyond the US.

must visit my mother-in-law. haven't seen her since christmas.

and i'm with -ann; i don't sleep in. if i sleep past 6:30 i feel i've wasted the day.

it's snowing here again. so pretty. so i will work on my book, and read the papers, and go see my mother-in-law, and walk the dogs, and that's pretty much a whole day right there.

The Man loves to sleep in as well.

Every - Single - Day we were away I made grrrrring noises while I sat on the couch and waited while he slept.

He'll sleep until 1pm every single time. Makes a day really short IMHO.

However - I kept telling myself - the 5 week holiday was all overtime he had put in so that we could go away. He deserved to sleep. I on the other hand have to get out of bed or I can't walk if I stay in. Hurts my back way too much.

Going for my second cup of coffee now....

funny you should mention . . .

laundry HAS been the order of the day.

i've been following a few blogs today and there's an awful lot of mention of "sleeping in".

what exactly does this phrase mean?
is it the opposite of "sleeping out"?

you know, as in "eating in" or eating out"?

help?

laurie - it sounds like a very nice day. Except for that 6:30 business. You should be a nurse.

Aims - even I can't sleep in until 1 pm. That's impressive. After 10 I start feeling all guilty and make myself get up.

bARE-e YED sUN - welcome. And I don't know how that term started. I've wondered that myself. Anyone?

Guess it is hardly fair to comment now since the day is half over, but I slept until 8:00!!! Now I am cleaning, which makes me happy. If there is time I am going to sew a little, too.

Yesterday I spent at a quilt show and then went grocery shopping and saw a movie.

Tomorrow is for gardening.

All in all, a GREAT weekend. Hope you are enjoying yours.

my two cents - what movie? I want to see Slumdog Millionaire this week sometime. We'll see if it actually happens.

I love my Sunday's too. I crave my sleeping in late time, waking up to the Sunday paper. I refused to move out of the house today, just reading and relaxing. Hope your day stayed peaceful.

The one thing? Get some fresh air. The sky is blue, cloudless, and amazing. The trees are bare, stark against the sky. It's cold, but bearable.

That was this morning. Hadn't foreseen I'd have a kid with a virus. Didn't get my fresh air.

How is it you get to sleep in when you have kids?

I'm going to have to look into this peanut butter thing. I've been told I live in a cave, and apparently it's true. But I'm happy there with my peanut butter.

Today I planned on going to see the eagles on the river, but I ended up spending most of the day at my mother's. The eagles will still be around tomorrow.

yep RC it's an abcess, Doc wants to save it's roots and crown it along with 2 more crowns...heard of a "free" Dental School in a neighboring town...hmmm...

the rotten correspondent said...

altaglow - yum. if you have to have a gluten allergy, at least you can have brownies. Kiss the gluten free one for me.

Cheryl - I didn't do much, I'll tell you. And it was wonderful.

Iota - oh no! a sick kid. blurgh. is it the stomach yuck that's going around?

Amy - my kids are pretty self-sufficient in the morning, and they've learned that I'm nicer when I'm well-slept. And when I'm stuffed with PB. God, this recall is torture.

some of those free dental schools are pretty good, I hear. I hope your pain meds are working. That sounds miserable.
