stir fry sunday

A Nice Matters Award has been bestowed on me by Akelamalu, who is still in awe that the Film Geek remains alive after the toothbrush caper. As well she should be. If that ever happens again I'll be needing an entirely different kind of award. One with a metal file in it to aid in my jailbreak.

This award thing gets tricky sometimes, because I think all of my blog buddies are nice. If they weren't nice they wouldn't be my blog buddies. Ya know what I'm sayin'?

But, as I looked down my blogroll I noticed that these three ladies are very deserving and don't have this particular award on their shelf yet. They do now! For support, wonderful comments and just generally having the kinds of places I like to hang out, I'm passing this on to...

kaycie at lost in the Bible belt

Amy at blog to the bone

Irene at Sweet Wood Talking

Now, go forth and spread Niceness by passing this on to fellow bloggers that make your day.

Also, I've been tagged for the middle name meme by both Jo Beaufoix and Flowerpot, which is problematic in that I hate my middle name and have spent the entire week trying to come up with better ones to foist off on my readers. But, even though I have no H in my name, I'm Honest, so... I guess I'll tell the truth. But I don't have to like it, do I? (Don't answer that).

My middle name is Sivana, which is a female take-off on my dad's family name, Sivani. (You see what I mean?? And you thought I was Exaggerating. Did you see an E in my name? I didn't think so).

For kicks and giggles, let's do it from my children's perspective, shall we?

S - Sarcastic. Yes, me. Hard to believe, I know, but true.

I - Intrusive. Why do I need to know how much homework they have every night? Hmm?

V - Vaguely embarrassing on a fairly regularly basis. There's no need for them to know it's deliberate.

A - Annoying. (Thank you. I try).

N - NO!! My favorite word, according to them.

A - Anti- violence Nazi, especially when it comes to video games and movies. So shoot me.

This just in : laurie jo tagged me for the same meme. Bam! Stick a fork in me baby - I'm done!

And on the Play It Forward front, I need addresses from Stacie, un peu loufoque and Kaycie. My email address is rottencorrespondent@gmail.com.

I feel the creative juices flowing. Okay, maybe not. But I'm working on it.

On a fairly ironic note, Sasquatch and I had a major blowout the night my first Anniversary post appeared. I was venting - at seven thirty the next morning - to my friend Laurie, mother of the Red Headed Step-Child, and (ahem) very infrequent commenter as pursegirl (no pressure though). Clearly she feels she humors me enough as it is. She had read the post, and of course had heard the story before, but after hearing all the gory blowout details, she summed it up pretty succinctly.

"Wow. Kind of makes you miss those comatose times, doesn't it?"

Bloody friends. Who needs 'em?

Congratulations on your award! From what I have read for the past several weeks, you definately deserve it. You Meme was so funny, thanks for making me smile. I needed that tonight. I would be too frightened to do it from my girls perspective! You are a brave woman!

Congratulations on your award and thank you ever so much for passing it on to me, I really do appreciate it so much. It is my first!

Sorry that you and the boy had a blow up, hope you can hug and make up again fast.

Bloody friends indeed!

I think your middle name is fabulous. It is unique and significant. Maybe I appreciate a unique name after going through school with a last initial forever attached to me because my name was so common. In high school, I had to throw in a middle initial too, since both my first and last names were both in use on someone else.

I'll be working on my MeMe'd homework soon.

I'm sorry, but I'm laughing like mad over here, and that's drowning out the stirrings of sympathy. You crack me up.

You really are a hoot. You keep us on the edge of our seats and crying one day and laughing out loud the next.

that's a lovely middle name.

and you, my dear, were quite a handful.

I think Sivana is a great name. It's unusual - wear it with pride.

Congratulations on the Nice Matters award. You're certainly deserving. And thanks for passing it on to me. I'm blushing, see?

Is there a snortin' funny award out there somewhere? Someone needs to smack you with that one.

Another award for the very deserving, RC!

And there's nothing wrong with your middle name. You could be named like my husband's grandmother: Ollie Irona Faye.

You are just fine, trust me.

Flowerpot said...

yes you defnitely deserve the award, correspondent! What a wonderful middle name - I'm most jealous!

I love your middle name it's so unusual. I always wanted a middle name and as I got tagged with the meme too I'm trying to make one up! Well done on the meme by the way. :)

Since I have my grandmother's maiden name as a middle name, and it's very long, I dread ever being tagged for any MeMe like this one. That would be dread as in going to court to legally change it to S or T or some other single letter of the Alphabet. Or I might just fold up my blog in the night and disappear forever. [pause] Nah. Still laugh with every post, RC!

RC I love this. you always do stuff from an interesting perspective. And at least your middle name is fairly short young lady.
Big hugs.

code word - bglyms
This is how I imagine Sasquatch, big limbs, all long arms and legs.
A proper kid.

i forgot to say that i like your middle name as well...at least no one would confuse it w something too similar. back in hs most of the girls in my graduating class had the middle name of marie...mine is maria, so when i got my cards to insert in my invitations..guess what it had? that's right MARIE. i let them know i was VERY displeased lol

Thanks, RC. I think your middle name is lovely.

OK, OK, unfair! All the blog world will think I'm a horrible mother and friend to suggest a longing for the "comatose" days!! And I'll try to comment more!!
Of all my friends, there is no one I can lay it all out for more than you. And, I hope, I allow you to lay it all out, too. If it weren't for our many commisserations, I'm sure I would have committed myself and each and every family member by now. And the only way I feel comfortable even suggesting something in reference to the anniversary is b/c I care as much about each of your smelly boys as I do my own smelly clan- proven by my intense love for the one claiming I have head lice! I'm waiting for the blog about that!
