thought for the day

Unlikely T-shirt on one of our well known (and sometimes violent) paranoid schizophrenics:

I have many personalities and none of them like YOU.

There was a lively debate about this after the patient walked down the hall. Was it a bit of really sly group home humor? A passive aggressive gift from someone who figured they wouldn't "get" it, so it was kind of a joke on them? A warning to tread carefully? Or just the sign of an awfully well adjusted mental health patient who figured that humor was one of the best defenses? A way to embrace your diagnosis, as it were?

What do you think?

I hope it was the latter!

Schizophrenics are usually highly intelligent to begin with. I think it was his own wry humor, a decision made while on his meds.

Melanie has such a great sense of humor, and I know it helps. When one of her workers asked her if she saw the proverbial glass half empty or half full, she said, "I'm bi-polar, I see it both ways." I thought that was great.

Thanks for your kindness and support. You have no idea how much words keep me "up."

I think that patient has a good sense of humor and is a bit of a cynic as well, as he/she is entitled to be after what life has handed him/her. It's the kind of thing I would wear under those circumstances. Luckily, I'm only bi-polar. I see it both ways too.

Wow - how did I miss this post? Right up my street. What do I think?

I love the T shirt. I want one.
Oh and I think it is a patient who well knows he can mess with heads of people who do not know him but know he is schiz.
He has a great sense of humour. :)
