oh, nuts

I have just had my butt kicked from one end of our ER to the other for the last two days. I've worked 24 out of the last 32 hours and at this point I'm not sure if I could tell the difference between strep throat and a tubal pregnancy. There are fourteen straggly teenagers screaming at video games downstairs, one twelve year old at a birthday sleepover of his own and one smelly ten year old sleeping sideways on my bed.

My brain is shot. I want sugar.

Specifically, I want cookies. Peanut butter cookies. Soft, chewy peanut butter cookies with little pieces of nuts in them. Warm would be even better. Cold would still work. Peanut butter is one of my favorite security blanket foods. And cookies are another. Together they are the perfect combo.

What's your favorite comfort cookie? Do tell.

Snickerdoodles. Warm, soft, chewy snickerdoodles.

Although your peanut butter cookies are sounding mighty good right now.

Being a celiac makes it hard to just pick up a cookie and enjoy it...you know what I mean...how many good cookies are there that aren't made without flour in them...not a ton ...So what is mine? Hmmm....well - anything with chocolate...yeah - I'm in there - or should I say - They are in ~ my mouth..

Your cookies made me think of Mrs. Fields white chocolate chip and macadamen (sp?)nut cookies.

Strep throat or tubal pregnancy, that was funny.

The dough from butterscotch bars. Mmmmm. So delicious. And since it's from cooking light, you can rationalise that it's not that bad for you.

I have this pumpkin chocolate chip cookie recipe that is absolutely to die for. So much so that I figured out what all my carb counting and stuff was when I had gestational diabetes.

Oh God...anything...as long it's got chocolate and nuts, I'm not overly fussy. You're working very hard my dear, take care.

I love the idea of peanut butter cookies - I love peanut butter but can't take sugar. Bit of a problem!

Well, absolutely chocolate chip cookies, home made or store bought, but then only the very best brand and then I eat the whole package in one sitting. Yes, I know, I am very bad and very much in love with them.

Chewy oatmeal raisin. Really nice when placed at the bottom of a bowl and then covered with a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream. Just my way of dunking my cookies!

Well, yesterday was a pretty rotten day for me too so I bought some chocolate chip cookies and ate them in the car. Not all of them, but most of them. And I felt better.

Yep cookies is my weakness too, and it really doesn't matter what kind, if I'm in that kind of mood.

It's all over now. I just read pixelpi's response and learned a new thing to do with my favorite oatmeal raisin cookies. I also like heath bar cookies that are really heavenly. I bake chocolate chip most often. I would never turn down a peanut butter cookie. I see a pattern here.

Is there a difference between tubal pregnancy and strep throat? I wasn't aware.

There is a bakery around the corner from our old house in Tulsa. Everything there is wonderful, but my absolute favorite is a little chocolate cookie that is crisp on the outside and almost gooey on the inside. Nuts are involved and caramel, too, I think. I can't remember the name of them, but I know them on sight. When I had a really bad day, I would stop and get half a dozen and hide them in my purse, then eat them with a glass of milk while making dinner.

I wish I had the recipe.

I looked them up. They're called Turtle cookies. Mmmmmmmm.

Shepherd's pie (ground beef on the bottom, mashed potato on the top, and then melted cheese on top of that if you're being very flash). My mum used to cook it for dinner if I'd ever been away and come home. Best served with peas. Then apple crumble (kind of like apple cobbler) to follow, served with custard and/or cream and/or ice cream.

Not one for cookies really.

Ah. There was I thinking 'why does everyone's comfort food have to be a cookie?'

And then I reread your post. Oops.

Oatmeal no bake cookies--you know that recipe that you can make when snowed in because all it takes is oatmeal, peanut butter, cocoa, sugar and butter--AND 1 minute of cooking on top of stove. Instant gratification!

I totally had to answer this because right now I am eating frozen chocolate chip cookie dough! Yum-o!

I'm an ice cream girl myself, but I can be forced into eating a cookie or two. I don't know if it's comfort food, but I really love the fresh-baked cookies they have at Subway. Seriously. They're really good. Otherwise, pretty much anything my mom bakes. She's amazing in the kitchen.

Favorite comfort food? My mom's goulash. Or else cheesecake. Any kind of cheesecake!

1. Chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven with the chips still melted and gooey.

2. Thumbprint cookies.

3. Sugar cookies

4. Do brownies count? Warm, just out of the over.
